Vince Garcia Fire / EMS Family Benefit
Melissa Missy Helms with her family

14th annual · Fire / EMS family benefit

When one
of ours fights,
all of us
stand.

Each year, the Fire/EMS community chooses one firefighter or firefighter family facing a medical crisis or devastating loss—and puts the full weight of the tournament behind them.

The mission

No Fire/EMS family
fights alone.

The people who answer the call carry everyone else through their worst day. VGGT exists for the moment when cancer, a serious health problem, a death, a premature birth, or another medical emergency turns one of those families’ lives upside down.

2026 recipient

“This is our chance to help someone who has helped so many.”

Melissa “Missy” Helms

Missy is the wife of Duane Helms, a member of Newton Fire/EMS, a second-grade teacher, and a neighbor whose life has been rooted in helping others. After a diagnosis of follicular lymphoma, the tournament rallied around the Helms family to help with the long road of cancer treatment.
